School & PO: An Essential Partnership 家委会：学校最重要的伙伴

On September 6, Yew Chung International School of Beijing’s Parent Organisation held their first meeting of the year when more than 60 parents joined for coffee, pastries, socializing, and of course lively discussion about this year’s upcoming activities and events.

9月6日，北京耀中国际学校家长委员会举行了本学年的第一次会议，逾60位家长参加。家长们欢聚一堂，并一起讨论今年即将举办的各项活动。

The morning started off with an introduction by the YCIS Beijing Senior Leadership Team, who stressed the importance of the Parent Organisation both as a means to build our school community, but also as a channel to raise questions and concerns about how we can continue to improve as a school.  

上午，北京耀中的高层管理团队致辞，强调了家长委员会作为家校沟通桥梁，对建造和谐校园社区、提高学校教育质量的重要性。

Chinese Co-principal Christine Xu spoke of parent feedback, saying, “It’s always a great pleasure to welcome members of the YCIS Beijing Family. And we use those words, YCIS Beijing Family, because it reflects the closeness and supportive nature of our relationship. So, we always say to parents that you are an important partner to the school – that means that your involvement, your contribution, and your advice are an important part of school development.”

徐校长提及了一个家长的回馈，说道：“我们热烈地欢迎新成员加入北京耀中国际学校的大家庭。我们用‘大家庭’这个词是因为它体现出我们彼此间密切和相互支持的关系。因此，我们总是和家长说你是我们学校重要的合作伙伴——您的参与、贡献和建议是推动学校发展的一个重要力量。’”

Following the remarks from our Senior Leadership Team, parents took turns introducing themselves. With such a large group, it was a long though valuable exercise, as it helped the PO to develop an immediate sense of familiarity and a shared purpose.

致辞结束后，家长们开始相互介绍自己。因为人数众多，介绍时间会稍长，但却是一个有意义的部分。它让家长们相互认识，相互熟悉共同建立家委会的目的。

Our PO co-presidents Jenny Chu and Eike Westerholt then led the rest of the morning’s activities, which involved conversation centred around this semester’s upcoming events. In the following months, the PO will be organizing a Christmas Family Ball on December 2, the Wish Tree Santa Collection Day on December 1, and the annual Christmas Bazaar on December 12. Each of these activities takes a long time to plan, so preparations are already getting underway.

家委会主席Jenny Chu 和Eike Westerholt 主持接下来的活动，聚焦这个学期的活动计划。接下来的数月，家委会将会在12月2日举办圣诞家庭舞会，12月1日进行希望树圣诞募捐以及在12月12日进行一年一度的圣诞集市。每个活动都需要花时间策划及落实。现在，家委会已经开始行动了！
